  PERSONAL STATEMENT

Dr. Lowe joined Carolina Orthopedic Specialists in 2007. He is a board certified orthopedic hand surgeon. Professional affiliations include American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Lowe enjoys caring for all age groups, from toddlers to the seasoned citizen. His main interest is in trauma of the wrist, but his practice includes congenital problems, arthritis, sports injuries, carpal tunnel, wrist arthroscopy, and tumors/masses.

Dr. Lowe is a native of Texas, completing his bachelor degree in chemistry at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas; his M.D. at University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and his orthopedic residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. He completed a hand surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Dr. Lowe began his medical practice as an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He was privileged to serve three years on the medical school admissions committee. In 1996, Dr. Lowe returned to Texas where he took over the practice of a retiring mentor in Fort Worth. During this time he
served on the American Society for Surgery of the Hand Self Assessment Exam Committee. He was appointed Adjunct Professor to the department of Kinesiology at Texas Christian University and became a member of the Horned Frog Medical Team, caring for TCU varsity athletes.

The Lowes chose to move to Morganton for the family atmosphere, small town feel, and the beauty of western North Carolina. Dr. Lowe is an avid woodworker and enjoys cooking and entertaining with his wife. He has two sons; one at home and one studying stage lighting design in college.
