  PERSONAL STATEMENT
Ralph J. Maxy, MD FAAOS is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating adult and pediatric spinal disorders. His interests include the use a variety of techniques including minimally invasive lumbar laminectomy and fusion procedures. His practice encompasses the treatment of a wide variety of spinal conditions including scoliosis, lumbar degenerative disorders, disc herniations, and spinal neoplasm.

He completed his undergraduate degree at Columbia College of Columbia University in New York. He subsequently completed his medical training at the New York University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society. He returned to Columbia University to complete an orthopedic residency. A spinal surgery fellowship followed at the prestigious Kenton D. Leatherman Spine Institute in Louisville, KY. Dr. Maxy has authored a number of scientific papers and has made presentations at national orthopedic and North American Spine Society meetings.

Dr. Maxy joined Carolina Orthopedic Specialists in August of 2000 and serves the Caldwell, Burke, and Catawba County communities. He resides in Hickory with wife Rachele and two very energetic sons.
