  PERSONAL STATEMENT

I have been a resident of North Carolina since 1974, when I began my residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. I found the climate and the people to be congenial, and, after much discussion with my wife, convinced her to consider living in North Carolina.

We moved to Lenoir when I finished my residency in 1979, and I have been practicing orthopaedic surgery in Caldwell County since 1979.

After coaching Little League baseball and Recreational League soccer for years, my interests have diversified into tennis, golf, and fishing. More recently, I have taken up wild bird hunting and take a trip to South Dakota once a year for wild pheasant hunting.

My professional interests include sports medicine and total joint replacement. It should be noted that Caldwell Memorial Hospital was the first hospital in this area to do arthroscopic surgery, beginning in 1979, and was also the first to have the specialized technique for an internal fixation of fractures developed by the European group AO.

My continuing education is focused on those areas, arthroscopic repair of shoulder and knee injuries, wrist and ankle surgery, internal fixation of complicated fractures, and advances in the field of total wrist and total knee replacements.
