| PERSONAL STATEMENTDr. Sladicka joined Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 1998 after completing his military obligation at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He relocated with his wife and their three children to start a practice in the Hickory and Taylorsville areas. He graduated with honors from the University of Scranton earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He accepted a Graduate Assistantship position at the University of Scranton and continued his studies in a Masters Program in Biochemistry. He attended Temple Medical School and was awarded a scholarship in the U.S. Army’s Health Profession Scholarship Program. He completed his internship at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. His medical career was interrupted with service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm as a Brigade Surgeon for the 24th Infantry Division. For exemplary service to his country, he was awarded a Combat Medical Badge, Meritorious service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Saudi Arabia Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and South West Asia Medal with two Bronze Stars. He completed His Orthopaedic training at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center receiving the Clarence Yeargan Award for Outstanding Orthopaedic Resident. Dr. Sladicka is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He recently passed his Recertification Examination. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been published in the Journal of Hand Surgery, Journal of Trauma and Aviation, Space, and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Sladicka specializes in the surgical and non-surgical care of musculoskeletal disorders which includes sprains, strains, overuse syndromes, worker’s compensation claims, and fractures. Dr. Sladicka has a special interest and expertise in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and ankle. He has mastered arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic labral repair of the shoulder and arthroscopic surgery of the knee. These types of surgeries allow for a less painful recovery period and promote a quicker return to activity in most cases. He has fifteen years of experience, including residency, with joint replacement surgery of the knee and hip. Dr. Sladicka does surgery of the hand which includes carpal tunnel release. Dr. Sladicka’s hobbies include photography, fresh and saltwater fly fishing.
