  PERSONAL STATEMENT
Dr. James E. Stanislaw M.D., FAAOS

It is a privilege to have the opportunity to share my personal mission with you. Whatever reason has brought you to this website, I hope you find what you are looking for, and if I can offer help with your quest, it would be my honor. My goal is to offer the very finest and technologically advanced surgical care as well as attention to the smallest detail. I offer a clear explanation and a concise plan to fit the needs and wants of my patients.

Growing up under a general surgeon, my first focus was the very best training this country offers. Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, president of the premedical honor society mark the Notre Dame years followed by graduating with honors and publication of my thesis at Yale University School of Medicine by age 25. My passions for Orthopaedic surgery then lead to an internship and Orthopaedic surgical residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Metrohealth Trauma Center and Wade Park VA at Case Western Reserve University. I relocated to the Foothills of North Carolina in 1996 and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons within the minimum three year requirement. I am board certified and recertified (each ten years.) with the intent to continue to bring the latest proven advances to my community in joint replacements, hand surgery, sports medicine / arthroscopic surgery, and trauma with the highest possible success rates. Particular areas of concentrated interest involve minimally invasive surgery; computer navigated and gender specific joint replacement, partial joint replacement, arthroscopic reconstruction of the joints, corrective hand surgery, and trauma reconstruction.

Sharing my commitment with the medical community as well as the public is an ongoing pleasure. Serving as Chief of Surgery at Caldwell Memorial Hospital for 2007 and again in 2008 as well as many other committees demonstrates the after hours respect for this avocation. I play an active role in educating hospital staff and surgeons both in and beyond my community for those likeminded in achieving optimal performance. As one of the founding members and past president of Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, my hope for the long-term success of this group of gentlemen is personal as well as professional. I am proud of my partners and the commitment they have made to their communities. As a group, we know our primary concern is the improvement in the function of our patients while providing compassionate attention to their success. As an outreach to those who are looking for answers but may be shy for the doctor’s office, I regularly share information by newspaper, TV, and radio on the Orthopaedic surgical role in sports, health, injury, arthritis, and recovery.

I am blessed by God to have two beautiful little girls in Gwyneth Anne and Phoebe Grace. They are number one in my heart and understood from a very tender age that they are loved and that their Dad always wants to be with them whether it is school lunch time, a movie, soccer, dance, karaoke, swimming, a phone call, the middle of office, or just goofing around. They have seen their Dad working out in the gym and boxing, driving a race car, skiing down a mountain, playing the drums in a band, and going to church. Life is a balance, but they also know that emergencies happen and Daddy must go, just like it was OK when my Dad went to the hospital.
