Ronald Bailey, PA

Ron Bailey is a board certified military trained Physician Assistant and has worked at Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists since 2009. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree with honors from National Louis University in business management, as well as both Bachelor's and Master's degrees through the Tri-Service Military Physician Assistant program from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army for 10 years before joining the Central Intelligence Agency where he served for 18 years, retiring in 2005.

Mr. Bailey works directly with Dr. John de Perczel. He sees patients independently and with Dr. de Perczel at both our Hickory and Newton offices, as well as first assisting Dr. de Perczel in surgery. He has a special interest in hand and arm problems and has over a year of specialized training with the National Hand Specialists in Baltimore.

  Todd Cook, PA-C

Todd Cook, a native of Burke County, joined Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 2011. Immediately following high school, Mr. Cook served in the Army for 5 1/2 years. After his armed forces commitment was completed, he went on to graduate from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Science. He furthered his education at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 2003 from their Physician Assistant program. After graduation, he worked for a Neurosurgical practice in Florida for 7 1/2 years. In 2010, Mr. Cook earned his Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies in Neurosurgery from the University of Nebraska, DLP.

In joining Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, Mr. Cook was able to return to North Carolina. He is very glad to be back home. He assists Dr. Mark Brazinski and Dr. Earl Walker in the Morganton and Valdese offices, as well as assisting in surgery.

  Ashley Cummins, PA-C

Ashley Cummins is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) and has worked with Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists since August 2011. Ashley grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and obtained her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. While at the University of Detroit Mercy, Ashley was on the women's division I tennis team. Upon graduation, Ashley moved to Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and earned a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. During her clinical year, she had the privilege of training at elite institutions such as Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Ashley works directly with Dr. Tiffany and Dr. Martin and routinely sees patients in clinic for medication management.

Annie Deal, MSN, FNP-C

Annie Deal, a native of Caldwell County, joined Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 2009. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing at Caldwell Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Winston Salem State University. She furthered her education at Duke University where she earned a Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Ms. Deal is a member of the North Carolina Nurse's Association and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She sees patients in our Lenoir office and assists Dr. Matthew Hannibal in the office as well as in surgery.

Carson Finney, PA-C, ATC

Carson Finney is a nationally certified Physician Assistant and has worked at Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists since 2002. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in athletic training/sports medicine obtained at Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1999. After graduation, he worked as an intern athletic trainer at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. From this occupation, he went on to attend and graduate from the University of Florida with a Master's of Physician Assistant Studies in 2002. He has a specific interest in sports medicine, however, his scope of practice encompasses orthopaedics in general.

Practicing as a Physician Assistant with Dr. Robert Liljeberg, he routinely sees a full clinic daily; practicing at both our Hickory and Newton offices. During surgery, he participates as first surgical assistant and completes daily rounds on patients confined to the hospital.

Scott Fox, PA-C

Scott Fox is a nationally certified Physician Assistant who works at Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists' Lenoir office. Additionally, he is a Registered Pharmacist. He completed his Pharmacy degree at the University of North Carolina and later attended East Carolina University where he completed his degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Mr. Fox is a lifelong resident of Caldwell County.

Mr. Fox assists both Dr. Jeffrey Keverline and Dr. James Stanislaw, caring for patients in the clinic, as well as in the hospital.

Mark Marshall, PA-C

Mark Marshall is a nationally certified Physician Assistant that joined Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 2007. Prior to joining our practice, he worked as a Physician Assistant with the Duke University Healthcare System for nine years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1997, where he graduated magna cum laude. Mr. Marshall is a member of our orthopaedic spine team, where he primarily assists Dr. Ralph Maxy in both office and hospital settings.

Mr. Marshall sees patients in our Hickory and Morganton offices. He can also be found rounding on patients in the operating rooms at Catawba Valley Medical Center, Frye Regional Medical Center and Grace Hospital.

  Kyle Munday, MMS, PA-C

Kyle Munday is a nationally certified Physician Assistant that joined Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 2010. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Exercise Physiology, with honors, at East Carolina University. During his graduate studies at East Carolina, Mr. Munday was a personal trainer and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Clinical Exercise Specialist. He furthered his education by attending Physician Assistant School at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Mr. Munday works directly with Dr. Christopher Daley in our Valdese and Morganton offices. He sees patients in the clinic, serves as a first assist in surgery, rounds on inpatients and shares call duties. He enjoys general orthopaedics but has a particular interest in sports medicine and total joint replacement.

  Victor Paquin, FNP-C

Victor Paquin is a nationally certified Nurse Practitioner. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1997. After graduation, he worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Durham Regional Hospital. During that time, he earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001. After graduating, he worked with an orthopaedic surgeon in Lumberton until joining Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in 2010. His scope of practice encompasses orthopaedics in general.

Mr. Paquin can be found working side by side with Dr. Stephen Sladicka in the Taylorsville and Hickory offices. He treats patients daily and participates in surgery as a first assistant.

Jason Phillis, PA-C

Jason Phillis is a board certified Physician Assistant and has worked at Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists since 2001. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine from Marietta College (Marietta, Ohio) in 1996, he then attended Midwestern University (Downer's Grove, Illinois) and graduated with his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 1998. After graduation, Mr. Phillis worked with a solo orthopaedic surgeon for three years before joining Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists.

Mr. Phillis works directly with Dr. Donald Campbell at all times while often seeing a full clinic daily, first assisting in surgery, sharing on-call duties, and rounding on inpatients. He has special interest in joint replacement, sports medicine, and osteoporosis management.

Pamela Thomas, PA

Pamela Thomas is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant and has worked with Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists since 2008. Her vast career experiences bring a mature and dedicated commitment to her patients' well-being. As a former U.S. Marine retired since 2000, she has proven her professionalism, humanitarianism, and loyalty throughout her varied military positions including drill instructor, physical fitness trainer, combat water survival trainer, and recruiter. Her participation in marathons, ultra-marathons and triathlons for many years has given her a personal perspective of sports related injuries.

During her military career she obtained two Bachelor's degrees, one from Columbia College, in Columbia, Missouri and another from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida. She completed her Physician Assistant Studies at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.

Ms. Thomas works directly under the supervision of Dr. Alfred Geissele, a board certified orthopaedist, as his first assist during spinal surgeries. She has privileges at Frye Regional Medical Center and Catawba Valley Medical Center and can be regularly seen rounding on patients at either of the hospitals, as well as performing on-call duties. She handles daily patient visits in both the Hickory and Newton offices and specializes in spinal conditions.
