Dr. Stephen Sladicka is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in several areas of orthopaedics.
He graduated with honors from The University of Scranton, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended Temple Medical School and was awarded a scholarship in the U.S. Army's Health Profession Scholarship Program. He completed his internship at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. During his training, he was called to service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm as a Brigade Surgeon for the 24th Infantry Division. For exemplary service to his country, he was awarded a Combat Medical Badge, a Meritorious Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, a Saudi Arabia Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, and a Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He completed his orthopaedic training at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, receiving the Clarence Yeargen Award for Outstanding Resident.
Dr. Sladicka is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been published in the Journal of Hand Surgery, Journal of Trauma, and Aviation, Space, and Environmental Medicine.
Dr. Sladicka joined EmergeOrtho in 1998 after completing his military obligation at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He relocated with his wife and their three children to start a practice in Hickory and Taylorsville areas.
Dr. Sladicka specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical care of musculoskeletal disorders, which includes sprains, strains, overuse syndromes, workers' compensation claims, and fractures. Dr. Sladicka has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. These types of surgeries allow for a less painful recovery period and promote a quicker return to activity in most cases. He performs total knee replacements at the local hospitals. It has been his privilege to serve the Unifour community's orthopaedic needs for twenty years.
Dr. Sladicka's hobbies include photography and fresh and saltwater fly fishing. He is a graduate of the Bahamas Bonefishing School, which is a participant of the Federation of Fly Fishers Catch and Release.
Dr. Sladicka currently sees patients at our practice locations in Hickory and Taylorsville.
